Dosage : Usual adult dose for tetanus – 500 to 6000 units IM once, as an adjunt to appropriate antibiotic and supportive therapy.

Usual adult dose for tetanus prophylaxis – postexposure prophylaxis: 250 to 500 units IM once.

Usual pediatric dose for tetanus –  500 to 6000 units IM once, as an adjunct to appropriate antibiotic and supportive therapy.

Usual pediatric dose for tetanus prophylaxis – Postexposure prophylaxis:<7 years: 4 units/kg IM once. However, it may be advisable to administer 250 units regardless of the child’s size, since theoretically the same amount of toxin will be produced in the pediatric patient by the infecting tetanus organism as it will in an adult patient. At the same time, in a different extremity and with a separate syringe, diphtheria-tetanus toxoids and pertussis vaccine (DTaP) or diphtheria-tetanus toxoids adsorbed (DT) should be administered.>= 7 years: 250 units IM once.
